Just need to give some appreciation and gratitude for the Alison Animal Hospital family. They have been with my pets for over 14 years now, including one dear pet that passed (peacefully after a long life). Everyone at the office made such a hard day just a little easier, was warm and kind, and it made all the difference. I’m so grateful to have all my furry loved ones in their care. From the front desk to the technicians to the vets, everyone in this office provides both excellent care and is a wonderful person.

I switched my dog's vet to Alison because I recently moved to the neighborhood. To preface, the vet we saw and vet assistants were really lovely.

I am leaving this review because the bill I received for my dog's routine annual check-up was $550 higher (!!) than my previous annual visit with my last vet in Brooklyn, who was also lovely and provided an equally high quality of care. I wanted to leave a review for owners who are thinking of moving their pets here. It is very, very expensive! Perhaps ask for estimates of up-front costs if you are considering Alison.

Dr. Ryan and all of the techs and receptionists have taken care of my Hennie since 2018. As she ages and her needs grow, we’ve had to make more frequent trips - everyone always knows Hennie, is so sweet to her and incredibly caring. After appointments, Dr. Ryan makes calls to pet parents explaining everything that’s happened and even texts during emergencies. My doctor doesn’t even do that! If there’s an issue (which with senior dogs there often is!), they’re great about either getting us in for an appointment or recommending we go to the emergency vet if needed. I’m so grateful we live so close! Thank you, Alison Animal Hospital!

Alison is the very best veterinarian group I've ever been to. The doctors, technicians, and reception staff are all kind, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. They make everything very easy whether it's a routine visit or an emergency. I've moved a few times and had to see other vets but my dog has never been more comfortable than when she is with these folks. Shout out to Beach who she knows so well and just trots to her exam with no hesitation when she sees him. What dog happily goes to a vet visit? Well, every dog who goes to Alison. Worth the schlep from bay ridge for sure.

We always feel so well taken care, and that every single staff member cares about ours dogs, from the receptionists to the techs and all the wonderful doctors. My 90lb pitbull is a handful, but Alison Vet treats him like the little baby he is at heart. His teeth cleaning was second to none and he came out smiling with his pearly whites!

As first time pup owners, we absolutely loved our first visit with Dr. Ryan and the rest of the Alison Animal Hospital staff! From the second we walked in, we could feel that our 8-week little guy would be in good hands. The care and attention to detail, the way that we were informed, and the time we were allowed to ask questions and address all concerns even with a late appointment were so appreciated. From the front desk, to all the techs and Dr. Ryan, we loved our first experience. We feel very at ease and would recommend to all pet owners.

I would not recommend Alison Animal Hospital to anyone, especially if you care deeply about your pet’s well-being. I adopted my cat in December through Sean Casey Animal Rescue and started bringing her here for her vaccinations and care. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing.

Over the course of several visits, I raised concerns about my cat’s ongoing symptoms, particularly bloody soft stool, diarrhea, and abdominal bloating. Despite paying for multiple fecal tests, every result came back inconclusive. I felt like my concerns were dismissed, and the front desk staff consistently told me that the only people allowed to examine my cat during her vaccinations were the ones administering the shots, which made it impossible for me to address her health issues with the vet.

There were also multiple instances where I had to complain about the care my cat received during her vaccinations. On TWO occasions, the vet tech had to poke my kitten twice to administer her shot, even though she is a very timid, and a non-violent cat. The shot was also administered incorrectly, and when I asked for a different person or the vet to handle the next one, I was told that wasn’t an option, despite paying for an examination fee to see the VET not a vet tech.

The last straw came after my cat’s most recent vaccination, when I noticed she had full-sized worms coming out of her after two weeks. During this time, the clinic had been giving her anti-diarrhea gel, which only worsened the situation by preventing her from passing the worms and keeping them inside her stomach. When I did my own research, I discovered that most kittens should be routinely dewormed, something Alison Animal Hospital never even suggested, despite clearly allowing my cat to suffer and knowing she was a rescue. When I reached out to the front desk via email to explain that my cat was misdiagnosed and now very sick, I received no response. It's been weeks, and they’ve yet to offer any assistance, let alone a refund or discount for the ineffective and damaging treatments.

I feel deeply betrayed by this clinic. They clearly lack the knowledge and concern for my cat’s health, and I truly feel like they were more focused on getting my money than providing the care my pet desperately needed. I am currently pursuing legal action against the clinic. As a cat parent, it’s heartbreaking to feel powerless when your pet is suffering, and I cannot trust this clinic with my cat’s care any longer.

Please, if you value your pet’s health, I would advise looking for a more professional and compassionate veterinary clinic.

Dr. Ryan and Alison Animal Hospital have been caring for our cat, Clove since 2021. They provide excellent services all around. We also especially appreciate the practice's responsiveness. We recently called about an issue with Clove's eye, and a really kind vet tech returned our call right away even right before closing on a Saturday to give us advice on next steps. We highly recommend Alison!
