Les comento mi experiencia, Llevé a mi perrita Bulldog inglés de 10 meses porque no podía caminar tenía mal una patita, Le hicieron rayos X y me dijeron que tenía rotura de ligamentos cruzados en la pierna derecha y que sus caderas estaban mal que tenía displasia, querían que hiciera un estudio que costaba $200 para ver si tenía fiebre del valle, Pagué casi $400 y no pude pagar ese estudio me mandaron a casa con medicamento para la inflamación y el dolor y me dijeron que regresara en 10 días, Tres días antes de llevarla de nuevo mi perra empezó con una inflamación horrible En la pierna lastimada supuestamente, Cuando la llevé a mi perra ya tenía un día que no comía y estaba muy triste yo notaba que algo estaba muy mal yo pensé que era el medicamento el que la tenía triste, Cuando la llevo de nuevo me dicen que la inflamación está muy mal y que ocupan hacerle otro estudio que me costaba $200 les expliqué la situación mi esposo y yo nos encontramos un trabajo y no tenía ni para la gasolina, Se portaron muy accesibles y me dijeron que podían hacerle un estudio de sangre para ver cómo estaba, todo salió mal El riñón el hígado sus plaquetas todo. Me dijeron que la tenía que dejar 24 horas les explique de nuevo que no tenía dinero me hicieron un plan médico el cual tuve que dejar $400 de anticipo, Me explicaron que mi perrita estaría sin vigilancia de 10 de la noche a siete de la mañana yo pensé que nada pasaría y accedí a dejarla me dijeron que podía llevarla una clínica de 24 horas pero yo dije que no, En la mañana me llama a la doctora para decirme que la pierna de mi perrita amaneció peor yo pregunté si habían hecho todo el tratamiento que me habían dicho y dijeron que sí que le iban a volver a sacar sangre para ver cómo salía y que me regresaba la llamada antes de las 11 am, Nunca recibí la llamada yo les tuve que llamar a las 12pm Y me dice la doctora que mi perrita está mal en todo que no hubo mejoría que necesita una transfusión de sangre, Me explicaba que ella en vez de mejorar empeoró, Nunca algún diagnóstico simplemente estaban atinando a que podía tener querían que yo hiciera más de un estudio que cada uno costaba $200 era algo imposible, Luego la doctora me dice que en el expediente de mi perrita nunca dice que ella tuvo rotura de ligamentos que sólo el doctor que la atendió a lo primero menciona el problema de las caderas,Yo tengo las hojas en mi casa que me dieron donde decía que mi perra se había roto los ligamentos, Cuando la doctora me explicaba todo alguien le llama y le dice que pasa algo con mi perrA,Me cuelgan la llamada diciendo que es una emergencia me llamas en cinco minutos para decirme que mi perra había fallecido, Yo les agradezco que me hayan entendido mi situación económica pero no es justo que me dieron un diagnóstico equivocado la doctora decía que piensa que algo le picó a mi perra pero ellos dijeron que se había roto los ligamentos nunca la revisaron bien mi perra duró 10 días con intenso dolor muriendo quién sabe con qué veneno de qué animal, Yo no me voy a poner a pelear pero si fue una negligencia, me dieron un diagnóstico equivocado en mi perra terminó falleciendo. Estoy muy triste apenas yo sé lo que siento y la doctora se portó muy buena gente pero eso no justifica que ni ellos se dieron cuenta de qué era lo que pasaba. Gaste casi 1100 dólares en dos visitas y más la cremación de mi perrA. Y si las enfermeras son muy lindas y todo pero me dieron un diagnóstico equivocado desde el principio y las consecuencias fueron fatales nadie me va a regresar a mi perrita... Necesitan poner más atención yo sé que siempre están llenos pero eso no justifica que no revisen bien a los animalitos y no estoy culpando a nadie, Pero no es justo lo que pasó. Un día antes que falleciera mi perrita fui a visitarla y le lleve comida tenía un cono en su cabeza el cual estaba roto de un extremo y se le estaba enterrando en el cuello siento que son muy descuidados en esa clínica, También la herida que le estaban exprimiendo estaba toda sucia nunca la limpiaroN

Nefasta. Me cobraron $180 por unos rayos x y aunque los solicite por correo no asi me los entregaron. La veterinaria nunca dio la cara ni por telefono. No lo recomiendo en lo absoluto. Personal desprovisto de sencibilidad para con los animales y sus dueños. 🙁

I just have to give a huge thanks to the staff at Alta Vista. Over the weekend lost our pup Jojo of 17 years. We knew her time was coming soon, and we had many checkups and tough conversations with Alta along the way. Even though it was expected, the loss still hit our family very hard. I can't overstate how thankful I am for their compassion, understanding, patience, availability and responsiveness. After her passing, they were ready to communicate next steps and options. Just today we received a card signed by the staff with very sweet messages of condolences, that was a very nice touch. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We have been taking our dogs to Alta Vista (both vet + boarding) since moving to Phoenix in 2021. With one of our dogs being a senior, it was extremely important to us that we found a place that could replicate the care and support we received from our veterinarian from where we were moving from. While I do think that the staff here are sometime overworked (as are most vet staffs) and it is fair that folks call this out in their reviews, I do think it is a bit unfair the level of critique given. Just because staff might not be as “warm” towards you as a human being, does not mean the level of care given to your pet is lacking. As someone who was a vet tech for a bit in my lifetime, most often folks who don’t necessarily love people, are the ones who are pulled to animal care and excel at it.

Additionally as someone who has worked in the veterinary world, the pricing and approach to money at Alta Vista is second to none. I have never worked at, or been a patron of, a vet that is more fair and honest with their pricing.

Veterinarian offices are a business, but Alta Vista never once has pushed us into getting unwarranted procedures, medicine or care for our animals which is a stark contrast to others. Their recommendations are fair and customer/pet focused, and they have on multiple occasions let me know that concerns that I have had are not necessarily based in reality. Most importantly, they never prey on your emotions, or make you feel guilty regarding money.

Most notably they have let me know that cosmetic growths are not something that need to be removed if not a burden to our dogs (unheard of if you went to another vet, they would have gladly pushed for the surgery and taken the money) that an ACL tear on a small senior dog should be monitored instead of immediately having a $$$$ surgery (again unheard of; a lot of vets would have gladly charged the money without considering mitigating factors) and that dental cleanings should be affordable! Our senior dog with terrible teeth (genetic and poor puppy planning) needed a majority of his teeth pulled for less than $1k - a stark comparison to teeth pulling (3 teeth) and cleaning prior at our “home vet” which charged $3k for that.

Alta Vista cares for your pets, is fair in pricing (almost to a fault of themselves) and are kind, available and courteous. We will be moving in the next couple of years and will be so hard pressed to find someone who operates at this level going forward. I urge folks who read the poor reviews here to keep a realistic lens and know that emotions are valid, but not necessarily fair or accurate in reviews.

It’s taken me some time to get to this review. I never leave reviews, most bad business and mistakes are things to let go but what this vet practice did to me is worthy of taking the time.

I had been a long standing customer here for multiple pets. They were fine each time, until the last time. I took my new puppy to get fixed here. I was working from home at the time so I was able to be with him all day each day. He was never alone, and as a hyper breed of dog I made sure he was taking meds to minimize his activity. But something was wrong. His wound would not heal. I started to feel like something was off, and also was concerned about keeping him medicated for an extended period. He was past the anticipated heal date, but there was still a small hole that wouldn’t close no matter what. It would heal at night and then open again during the day.

So I took him in two other times and both times they just gave me more meds, that I paid for, office visit fees I had to pay for, and implied that there was something I was doing wrong at home. After over a month of this, one day I found an extremely sharp piece of plastic slightly protruding from the incision site!!! I took him in immediately to have them remove it. I was so upset that this could happen!!! I am not a medical professional, these people charge ludicrous amounts of money for completely inept service—he was overlooked on the day of his surgery and two follow up appointments.

At this appointment to remove the plastic piece, they waived the fee for the visit and procedure but told m e I had to pay for more medication, and would not reimburse me for the two prior visits that I only had to make due to their inadequate actions. I was beside myself. I left without paying for the meds in protest to their horrendous service. And guess what they did to me? They called the cops!!!!!

These people are bad actors. I’m sure good people work here but this experience was horrifying for me, risked my dogs life with infection, and instead of facing up to their mistake and making it right, they charged me more money and called the police. The police should be called on these people for stealing money from people for services not rendered and causing injury when they are the ones who are supposed to be helping animals heal. They are lucky I didn’t sue. If you care about your pet and your sanity do not go to Alta vista!

I have taken multiple pets to Alta Vista for the last 15 years. Our current vet, Dr. Jackie Rind is literally THE BEST! She loves animals, and it oozes out of her wonderful, bright personality as she compassionately treats our pets. When we had to put down our extremely senior dog last winter and showed up 3 months later with our newly adopted dog, Dr. Rind screamed with joy and celebrated with me on the floor meeting our new little man. I think vets have a really tough job. They work with little creatures that we human beings are undeniably crazy about, and when they get sick and we can't communicate with us, it is heart breaking. Dr. Rind always communicates clearly, listens thoughtfully, and I always feel cared about. Super duper recommend!!!!

I’ve been going to Alta Vista for years for multiple pets. This morning I was a walk in with my beloved 15 1/2 year-old rescue pit bull mix named Amma for end-of-life care. The team at Alta Vista was so attentive, loving and supportive even bringing an extra blanket for Amma to snuggle in. Thank you for supporting Amma and myself through a difficult experience.
