A special shout out to Cindy who is always amazing but made a special trip to Vet ER to bring my precious baby back to their office to help me make his final arrangements. She helped me through the entire process. I trust them completely.

I’m a 67 yo Family practice doc in Ponte vedra since 1985. I started using Animal care of PV many years ago after having issues with another vet in the sawgrass area. I started with Dr waters and have stayed thru the transition to new owners as it was always clean , professional , and close in case of emergency.

I have a 10.5 year old dachshund who has had issues with eczema and some staph skin infections. Bruiser has been to this office since his first exam at 6 weeks old!
This week he developed what appeared to be another early skin infection related to his eczema and normal things were not working. His skin from tail to 1/2 of his belly was looking red and he started also shaking his head suggesting his ears were an issue despite me cleaning them often. He just started to look.ill to me and not his usual peppy self.

I called and explained and the receptionist listened compassionately and offered an appointment despite a full schedule the next day. I arrived early and they managed to immediately get him in an exam room with no waiting or delay. The tech came in and she was extremely pleasant. Bruiser is a large dachshund and can be hard to lift and was born with a narrowing condition of his trachea , so it’s not appropriate to just pull him by a leash as he gags and can have spastic coughing if jerked on a leash.
The tech reviewed his record and listened to all my concerns patiently. This is becoming so rare as I’m sure you’ve experienced being rushed in your own Dr or vet appointments, and remember, we were walk ins , not regularly scheduled that day. She was kind and patient and got all necessary vitals without Bruiser making a whimper.
She report to the vet , dr Jodi Benitez, , who came in the room within just a few minutes.
She again asked and listened about my concerns and she was very tolerant of me being very detailed and asking many questions throughout her exam and explanation of her diagnosis and treatment plan. She was kind to listen with patience knowing I’m a doc , not a vet, but I just wanted to be sure Bruiser would get the type of care he deserved and care we all expect from professionals. She was good at making me feel like she actually listened , and she treated him with being very gentle yet extremely thorough. She and her tech were great and they even did much more than I expected. They did ear, skin , paw swabs. , checked a urine we managed to catch right before going in, and the took and trimmed his nails and he never made a sound. They were just great with him.

They returned with all the results , explained the findings and came in with 5 meds packaged and labeled with directions and finished by asking if I had any questions. All this reminded me of the days before computer e records, before the days of the Dr now more worried about their computer documentation and billing unbundling to see how many icd codes they can charge for. Dr Benitez actually listened, made eye contact , and wasn’t intimidated just because she is asked questions about diagnosis or treatment plans. I can’t recommend her highly enough.
I was given checkout and follow up appointments and I’m happy to report Bruiser is already improving at 72 hours, and he has quit itching and head shaking and tolerating his meds well. I definitely will continue using Animal care of Ponte vedra and I appreciate them trying to do the best for our pet members of our families.

Good Vets, but never available when you need them. We've been coming here for 5+ years with our large German Shepherd with allergy issues. On our last visit (two weeks ago) Dr. Benitez told us that after we finished our steroid taper, we should "just call and you can come in any time for a Tech Visit" to get the usual Cytopoint allergy injection. Two weeks later, we found ourselves in a jam, with me needing to leave town the next day and had to get our dog in for his shot before I left. I called the clinic a few minutes after they opened to try and get an injection and the girl at the desk (who sounded like she was barely awake) insisted that I needed to book an appointment and the earliest they had was the following week. When I told her EXACTLY what our vet had instructed me to do, she simply ignored it and repeated the next available appointment date. I wonder if the doctors there even know how many customers are being sent elsewhere because of the front desk's poor customer service and communication skills?

This place is just great overall - we have only had amazing vets and vet techs. Abigail, Darius and Sally are always exceptionally warm and I think we’ve seen each vet at this point - all super kind, caring and knowledgeable. Going to switch our other dog over to this practice from another local one due to this and that they’ve been able to get us in for emergencies even when we weren’t yet patients. Thanks for all you do!

Dr. Blythe Waters is simply the very, very best. Her vast knowledge and current applications combined with incredible skill are exceptional. What truly I’m grateful for is Dr. Waters excellent communication, compassion for both animals and their people and her genuine sense of grace. Sharing hearts and home with our companion animals, with their unconditional love it’s easy to feel joy, The only flaw of dogs is they don’t live long enough.. Dr. Waters empathy enables clients to express heartbreaking emotions at the most difficult of times. I recommend Dr. Waters to everyone I know that want the best for their beloved pets.

I have used Animal Care of Ponte Vedra for about 3 years now. I have nothing but good things to say about them. The staff is polite and helpful and the doctors are kind and thorough. My Yorkie gets groomed there and they always do a great job. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a vet.
