Had a feeling my bub had more than just an upset tummy and decided to take him here since it was late… they were super friendly and didn’t bat an eye at my “aggressive breed” dog (he’s a sweetie). Not to mention they were super up front about pricing and didn’t do anything before clearing it with me. The morning after he is already feeling better. I was super impressed and will definitely go here again in a time of need. Thank you Dr. Jones and BVS staff!

They saved my boy Apollo’s life!! After a week of rapid decline, 2 visits to our regular vet, and one overnight stay at Metro in Louisville we continued to be sent home with no answers and “let’s just wait and see if he gets better.” Made a snap decision to go to Bluegrass one night around midnight and I’m so thankful we did. They admitted him and were able to give a diagnosis that same night. I was so relieved to finally at least have an answer, even if the diagnosis wasn’t great. He stayed for a few nights for the supportive care he needed and I went to pick him up and he was a whole new cat!! We’ve been home with him for almost 3 weeks now and he’s doing amazing, (and he looks adorable with his fur boots).

I don’t know what would’ve happened if we hadn’t gone to the right place at the right time but I’m so glad we did. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and kind. I will recommend Bluegrass to anyone looking for the best care for their babies.

I have taken 2 cats to Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists for emergency and cardiac care. I have been so impressed by their care, empathy, professionalism, and knowledge. They have taken the time to fully inform me of my cat's physical condition and potential treatments. With the cat that was taken to them for an emergency condition, they helped me understand what treatments were available and/or if treatments could result in positive improvements. They were able to help me understand the serious, end of life condition of my cat, and what humane options were available. They were totally understanding of my difficult decision and supported me with kindness. Most recently, when I took a new adoptee with renal and heart diseases to the Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists cardiologist, comprehensive testing was done to fully understand my cat's current condition, overall outcome, and optimal treatment/medication. I can't emphasize enough how much I appreciated how professional and caring they were for me and my cats. Personally I can't imagine how hard it must be to constantly be treating seriously ill and/or terminal patients. For me it would be so emotionally difficult, I don't think I could do it day after day. So, that makes me appreciate that they do it for me. I only wish they had a full time general health specialist. They do have a part-time general health specialist. I've just found that my local vet (somewhat like a GP) often don't have Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists' extensive knowledge and experience, so some key things get missed. I HIGHLY recommend Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists/cardiology if they can meet your needs.

My boy had surgery and needed to got to Bluegrass for an overnight stay. As they took him back I sat in a waiting room and started looking at reviews of this place. I'm from Florida and have never heard of it. I got a little worried as I am reading the reviews. Thinking what have I done. Then an angel walked in with the name Lisa. Set every fear, concern and apprehension I had to rest. Told me what to expect and gave me the best news ever. She would give me updates whenever I called. I was free to call every hour if I felt I needed too and she would answer. My animals have never been a night away from me. I held back and only called once. She was gentle and so sweet, even knowing she could barely hear me do to my loosing my voice. Put all my fears to rest, let me know how he was and that he was the sweetest fat head she has seen. I felt so at ease!!!! At 8 am I went to pick him up. Everything was smooth and Cooper walked out a happy boy. I can't give this place enough praise. Thank you so much for taking care of him!!!

I’ve used Bluegrass twice. Once for my senior dog (who has since passed) with care after she developed a heart murmur in old age. Most recently, my girl Rebel stopped eating and started getting lethargic. We brought her in as an emergency on a Saturday. Bluegrass admitted her, diagnosed her with Addison’s disease, and we were able to pick her up again- all in a little less than 24 hrs. Everyone I dealt with was compassionate, empathetic, and helpful the entire time. Dr. Roan also personally called us to follow up. We will be using Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists in the future, should we need to.

My baby DJ was put to rest there and it was the worst day of my life, not only did I have to make the decision to put my baby down, but my best friend, my child, my heart

I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation enough for this office. My sweet Maggie had a tooth extracted at a different office and when I went to pick her up to take her home she collapsed. I rushed her to this clinic right away for 24- hour monitoring for what the previous vet thought could be a blood sugar issue from the mornings procedure. They took her back immediately upon arrival and thankfully (but unfortunately) they found the root cause to be a worse issue. I had to lay my mags to rest this day and had it not been for the love, care and support of the entire team here I don’t know if the process would’ve been as peaceful. They treated us with such kindness and sincere compassion for the situation. I even got a surprise in the mail from them that made me feel even more grateful I took her here. Thank you guys so much ♥️ mags would’ve loved every single one of you that helped us both that night.
