Es una pena que haya desmejorado tanto la calidad de atención en este Hospital. Solíamos llevar a nuestro perro Benito siempre allí y estabamos muy contentos con la atención, pero la última vez fuimos sólo por un dolor de estómago y parecía otro lugar, desde la atención de recepción cambió, te tratan mal súper apurados y un poco más te despachan. Ese día, la veterinaria de turno que nos atendió nos recomendó hacer un Heartworm test y otro de material fecal para confirmar que no sean parásitos; y que nos iban a llamar como mucho a los 5 días para informarnos los resultados. No sólo que pasadas las 3 semanas nadie nos llamó sino que es imposible comunicarse con ellos, no responden el chat del sitio web, si llamas por teléfono sólo la línea de emergencia te atiende y por allí no responden estas consultas, dejandote en hold por más de 20 min para que luego te atienda una máquina contestadora. Hemos escrito por mail a la veterinaria que nos atendió y su única respuesta fue "no puedo ayudarlos ya que yo sólo trabajo allí a veces". Pero lo que más me molestó es lo mal que te atienden si llamas por teléfono, no te dejan ni preguntarles si hay algún correo o teléfono para comunicarse. Conclusión: pagamos casi $500 por unos estudios de los cuales no tenemos resultados, y mi perro no puede empezar con su medicación hasta no tener noticias de esto. No iré nunca más y mientras sigan con ese customer service, no los recomendaré a nadie.

Dr. Nguyen is excellent at explaining everything thoroughly and compassionately. I didn't feel like the appointment was rushed at all and he was happy to answer all my questions. The front desk staff was also very helpful and knowledgeable when I used my care credit card and had questions about the payment plans. I'm very pleased with Columbia Pike Animal Hospital and knowing I have such a great vet clinic to care for my feline son when he needs it is wonderful peace of mind.

Columbia Pike Animal Hospital has taken such excellent care of my pets over the years. When I had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to my beloved cat, the compassion and support I received meant everything to me. The staff, techs, and doctors helped my dog, Pippin, through a traumatic dog bite that became infected and required months of bandage changes and wound care. They helped me get my dog in and out of my car the first week before I had a ramp to do it on my own. They always explained everything regarding care in great detail so understood all of our options. They even all knew his name whenever he came in, and remembered him a few months later when he came in after (unfortunately) consuming weed on a walk through Old Town.

I had a different vet prior to our first emergency situation and I will only go to Columbia Pike Animal Hospital at this point.

I'll give you the short version first - They order a bunch of expensive tests (that don't actually identify the issue) and then tell you to put your animal down.
The Long version
I had first brought my cat here on emergency service as he was heavily breathing one day. Didn't run or play but could barely breath. They take him in and get him stabilized. This alone cost me over $1k and they tell me it's POSSIBLY feline COVID and how there is no cure so I can have the tests done but he will still need to be put down. I understand making the hard decision at some point when your animal is too old or too sick to be forced to go on. I asked the vet what the most humane option (Put them down or try treatment) was and he said, "well I have a family so I wouldn't spend the money so you should put him down". However, I explained it's just me and I have a great salary but is putting him through the process going to make him suffer more. Again, the vet told me it would just be easier to put him down. I was devastated as I truly believed a professional opinion on the matter, but I had a gut feeling that maybe I didn't fight enough for my cat, and he could have lived a healthy life had I gone forward with some tests. The total came around $1,500 to get him checked out and then euthanized. I feel regret every day and I felt incredibly irresponsible.
Fast forward a year later, my dog had frequent nasal discharge that was mildly bloody, and his nose was swollen. He was not lethargic, ate and drank like normal, would run and play etc. All things considered very healthy and happy. Of course, the first thing they told me is it's probably a tumor and to put him down. They then said they would do X-rays (does nothing for soft tissue as I learned later) and a blood test. I was about to move and wanted to get a price estimate first. I clearly communicated that I wanted a price estimate before anything was done. The price again was about $1.3K for blood tests and x-rays. I told them I would not do it at this time because I was moving the following week to a new state. Turned out that in the back while they had my dog, they were running the tests anyways. When I grew suspicious as to why it was taking forever to just bring out my dog so we can checkout and go, I went to the desk. They then went to the back to check and managed to stop them before going with the X-rays, but blood tests were done. This was about $585. I have the receipts too because I have insurance on this dog. Anyways I get to a new state and take him to a vet again. this time they did a Biopsy for only $80 and a blood test for $50. Turned out he had just inflammatory cells not cancer cells. This meant he most likely had a cyst in his nose. So instead of telling me to put my dog down they do surgery for only $2300 to remove a half-dollar sized cyst, insert a drainage tube and give me about 6 different medications for him. He is happy and healthy as he always has been but can now breathe more comfortably. To summarize, they know that most people can't afford their price for treatments, so they order a bunch of tests that are still high priced (and identify nothing) but then just tell you to put down your animals. They squeeze what they can.
