The staff at GSVS East Brunswick were all super friendly and attentive. They took great care of our cat and did not push any unnecessary treatment recommendations. There was an emergency that came in while we were there, so it took a bit longer, but a staff member came and informed us of what was happening, and of course we understood. Thank you Dr. Sweeney for taking care of Livia! Glad she was a good patient for you and your staff. We appreciate the time you took to examine her and kept us well informed of what was happening and next steps. the professionalism and care every staff member has. They truly care about our pets and provide the best possible care!

Incredible experience — my dog ate some rat poison and the staff was so efficient and helped keep our anxiety at bay. Everyone was so empathetic and the doctor was such a kind man. We were in such good hands here and felt very supported by the whole staff (ie: they told us costs and implications of everything they would do for our dog so that we could make the best decisions). What a lovely vet group

I brought my dog there after she had been limping for a couple of days.

I saw Dr. Marella and he informed me that my dog had a torn ACL. He was unbelievably professional and was able to make me an appointment in the Eatontown office the next day for a surgery consult.

I would recommend Dr. Marella to anyone! Even with horrible news, he was extremely helpful and courteous.

My dog got a nasty cut on her nose this afternoon, I brought her in to see if she needed stitches. They had us wait in a room for 90 minutes, only to come in and say that the Doctor couldn't see us as she was busy with a stray cat and that we should go to the Woodbridge location instead. What a complete waste of time and my poor dog was sat there in pain waiting for nothing.

After being out of town for a couple weeks I noticed my cat had a cut on her tail that had developed into an infection. It was a Sunday so my regular vet was closed and the only option was to go to an emergency vet to get her looked as soon as possible.

I picked here because the overall rating was almost 5 stars and I thought I would be in good hands. The doctor seemed like he was pushing towards the more expensive options such as surgery over trying anything else first. Amputation of my cat’s tail was even brought up which I thought was extreme for the situation. I ended up going with the less expensive option of antibiotics and painkillers because I didn’t want to jump to removing my cat’s tail and I wanted a second opinion. They also didn’t wrap the tail at all and said it needed to air out. That’s fine because they’re supposed to be the experts right? I ended up wrapping it myself when I got home because my cat was leaking pus all over and the cut is also close enough to her butt that it touches it when her tail is down. I don’t think that’s very sanitary for healing.

After this I went to see my regular vet when they opened. They said her tail looks like it could be saved and they didn’t want to do amputation either before trying every other option. My regular vet gave my cat an additional antibiotic injection and they also told me to continue the antibiotic pills and painkillers I had been given. 2 weeks later and her cut is almost completely healed, only being a small scab.

It didn’t sit right with me that the doctor not only seemed to be pushing towards the most expensive option before trying anything else but he also came into the room several times to change the price we had already been given. I understand it’s an emergency vet and it’s going to be more expensive than seeing my normal vet but even picking the “cheaper” option it was over $500 to just give antibiotics and painkillers. If you want to go somewhere that considers your pet over money I wouldn’t go here. The only saving grace were the staff working with the main doctor that seemed like genuinely nice people.

Unfortunately I met this office on one of the worst occasions. I was on vacation and my mother was caring for my cat, she dismissed some of his behavior as “just missing us” but it was far worse. I was able to walk in and within minutes had a tech and the Dr greet me to triage my poor cat. They offered treatment plan but, one of the plans was the worst decision any pet owner has to make. After carefully reviewing my options with the Dr who who offered her personal opinion and showed compassion and tried to ease my conscience . Knowing the practices she worked for benefited to make thousand of dollars, she suggested the most humane way forward, the techs and the Dr were so compassionate, attentive and genuinely lovely people. They gave me everything I needed to make the worst decision. I am very thankful for their professionalism and compassion. I picked up my cats remains today and received and beautiful hand written card from both the vet and two techs who were working that night with very personal messages that made me believe it was not a “canned” response. This is a wonderful place and they really care for animals, and their owners.

Such a good experience! The office staff and doctor were super friendly, caring and patient. I even had an issue with my insurance deductible and they went above to resolve it that day. My only criticism is when we were going back and forth with the insurance company the doctor disagreed with their decision to cover that portion of the bill. He mentioned that if he were reviewing the claim I would have to pay the deductible. It was just strange that he would comment on it. Despite that one issue, I would still rate them with 5 stars.
