I am an insurance adjuster for Allstate and found three kittens found at a property while doing a site visit. Two were feisty but the third one was not doing well and they took it to the back right away. They showed a lot of compassion during the intake procedure.

Went here yesterday to adopt a pup for my children to grow up with clearly explained I wanted a puppy that I can train and raise around my children who have autism (I said my children are harmless so I want a pup I can raise to be harmless too but also playful and outgoing like a normal pup usually is) and have already been to about 5 different shelters looking for one and finally found one here and immediately was going to adopt it until the young lady in the front kept saying I said different things like rent when I own my home almost like she was tryna find excuses cause she has somebody else in mind maybe ? Then she says to come back tomorrow with my kids to see if we want to still adopt the pup , she would not let us adopt at all in the moment unless we came back with our kids so we decided to come back with our kids the next day because we live 40 mins out from this shelter and had to travel all the way back here with our kids just to find out they had adopted the pup out yesterday as soon as we left 0/10 . Like I said I been to other shelters and were very close to adopting a bigger dog but then changed my mind because I felt uncomfortable thinking about having an already grown huge dog around my children . The other shelters were willing to let me adopt with no hassle If I wanted to .

Please get a second opinion if they suggest euthanasia. I brought in the friendliest stray cat and after bringing him to the back, they said he was unable to be handled and is at risk for being put down (when he was with me, he was purring and rubbing against my leg, so god knows how they treated him for him to act like that). They fixed his leg but said they couldn't keep him. I took him to the SPCA who welcomed him with open arms and couldn't stop talking about how sweet the little guy was. If you bring a stray animal here, PLEASE GET A SECOND OPINION!

We recently decided to adopt a dog. We went to several animal shelters to look and when I say RACC was amazing, it was an excellent experience. All of the staff were super friendly and showed so much love and compassion for the animals. This was the best adoption experience we could have asked for. The shelter is super clean and all animals were well cared for.

The Richmond Animal Care & Control facility is a great place to adopt pets from, volunteer at, and foster animals from. Anybody I have come in contact with has always been helpful and respectful of my “silly questions”. I adopted my baby boy April 2023, almost a year later and I can confidently say my life as well as his, is forever changed. I wish I could support shelters in more ways than I do, especially this one. If I had one “complaint” it would be that I wish they had some type of included pet health care for those adopted from their shelter (which they may, but I know I couldn’t get it when he needed it, and I know Richmond vets are generally booked up for months so it might not be their fault).

I have had a wonderful experience with RACC. We adopted a puppy who they described beautifully and looked for a home that suited his needs and a special rooster on the same day. Both are doing great!

Whoever the animal control officer that goes out on calls when there’s a stray dog is the rudest woman I’ve ever spoken to in the phone. I unfortunately have really irresponsible neighbors with their dogs and they are often running around and I’ve had to call to have someone try and pick them up so they don’t get hurt and the second time I saw a dog get hit by a car and she has the WORST service ever on the phone she’s accusatory of why I called twice in one day (I have bad luck with finding dogs) and I just wanted to help but if I never had to speak to her and her poor attitude again I’d be grateful. I hope RACC can find someone better than her because she’s horrible
