Dr Pirkey and staff always provide great service! Gabby in the front always makes me and my dogs feel super welcome. Dr Pirkey avoids unnecessary charges and takes excellent care of all my dogs.

DO NOT BRING YOUR RABBIT HERE!!
First of all don’t have a sign on the front that says emergency 24/7 if you CANT take emergencies 24/7. My rabbit wasnt eating and back legs were partially not working if you know rabbits you know that is really bad and they are going to need care immediately. They took almost a week to get us in only after we called repeatedly telling them it was an emergency. When they did get us in it took them half an hour past our appointment time to get us to the exam room. Then they took our rabbit to the back which is fine except they brought him back after HALF AN HOUR and basically said well seems like hes in pain heres some meds. We asked for some blood work because we knew there was something more than “just some pain” it took them an entire hour in the back to get it done. If they are struggling thats fine but they need to let the owner know instead of forcing it for an hour and a half. Bunnies can die from just stress. The medicine they sent us home with is the more diluted version for dogs and Dr. Pirkey told us to give him 1/10 of what he needed. After we brought him home he was in significantly worse pain than before and could barely walk. We called dr. champagne at carrolten west pet hospital and they got us in that morning. we had to wait 5 min after our appointment time to get in the exam room. She immediately knew we needed x rays and we told her abt the dose of pain meds we had been giving him. She was absolutely appalled Dr. Pirkey would send us home with that. We should have been given the more CONCETRATED version for RABBITS and been giving him 10 times what Dr Pirkey said. Dr. Champagne also prescribed him some gabapentin because he was in that much pain. After many expensive tests and hospitalization we believe he has a brain tumor or trauma that caused this and we unfortunately had to euthanize. If they hadn’t wasted over a week and 600$ of our money maybe we would have had the money and time for treatment but unfortunately we did not. The entire time we were at Sachse we felt as though everyone there thought we were wasting their time. (except the veterinary tech she treated us well) The receptionists were all extremely rude and Dr. Pirkey basically dismissed every concern we had and then seemed inconvenienced that we wanted more tests. This place is disgusting please fund other hospitals that actually care.

The best animal care I’ve ever received. Teddy, my corgi, adores the staff and is excited when we pull up to the building and can’t wait to see his friends. They’re very busy, bc they’re so good at what they do, but when it’s your turn the treatment is fantastic. I’d never go anywhere else!

I highly recommend this place and have really enjoyed Dr. Pirkey over the years and his care for our 15 year old golden retriever. He always provides exceptional care, explains things well to his customers or pet owners, and is very attentive. He has done such a great job with our dog, Ginger. She just recently passed but we are fortunate she lived an amazing, long life.

Nightmare of a place! numerous visits this place disappointed me! my little dog was misdiagnosed by Dr Pirky with a back and neck injury I had a feeling she was going into kidney failure and asked to have her labs drawn and he insisted that we wait and treated her with PAIN MEDS, ANTI INFLAMMATORY at that which affects the kidneys due to them thinking I didn’t have the $ to run the test 🙄 so next day I called all day long and let them know she was crying with every move she made all night and the whole day while I waited for them to get her in, being told well Dr. VADELL said if it’s that big of an emergency and you can’t wait for us to call you back to get her in take her to ER they finally call 2 hours before closing time with a attitude to bring her in and her regular dr which is DR PIRKEY was not in so DR VADELL treated her ran all the test on her that should of been ran to begin with and discovered my worst nightmare my baby was in kidney failure at that point by then it was too late Dr VADELL had me bring her in daily for fluids and leave her through out the day. WHICH was appreciated, never could talk to him in person it was like she was seeing a DR by phone! The receptionist asked me if I would like her regular Dr to take over the care for her which was Dr PIRKEY I said yes and they came back and said he didn’t want to care for her and Dr Vadell would be the one to treat her in this case…keep in mind that Dr vadell was not there he was at another location the entire time! AND while Dr PIRKEY was there at the location she was at he never once spoke to us NOR WANTED TO TREAT or care for her when he was her regular Dr and and been treating her for CHF he pretty much HID behind the doors caring for others and their pets We continued to take my baby for a week in half as we were distraught leaving her there 10 hours a day and it was very hard on her, every day we picked her up her blanket we took with her was soak and wet in urine which told me they never took my poor baby out to urinate while getting fluids. Guess that’s why they would get rude with me when I asked if she as being taken out, oh yeah and Anytime I would call and check on her they were rude as if I was bothering them or putting them out they gave me attitude every time! “OH yeah she is fine we can’t sit and watch her all day”is the response I would get WHEN I WOULD CALL! I spent thousands of $’s at this place through all her visits and treatment. Needless to say during the treatment all I would be told is she was going to need to be euthanized! EVERY SINGLE DAY NOT EXACTLY THE WORDS YOU WANT TO HEAR DAILY WHEN YOU ARE DOING EVERYTHING TO TRY AND SAVE YOUR BABY even by techs was being told that. This place is a joke and all they care about is the $$$ I ended up picking my baby up early to spend some time with her and decided on my own that was probably the best thing for her at this point being she wasn’t eating anything and was very weak so Picked my baby up held her for hours and had her euthanized in my arms at her home definitely was not going to do it at a place she hated being and hated having to care for her and that shows 0 compassion while your dog is sick or dying! Your dog is pretty much a # at this place and a $ sign I will never step foot in this place AGAIN EVER! They are rude and heartless and my experience with them the last 2+ years has been a nightmare! BEWARE! And go with your gut feeling of what’s best for your dog if u want to save it cause IT DEFINITELY IS NOT SACHSE VETERINARIAN! DOG KILLERS IS WHAT THEY ARE MY DOG WAS TREATED WITH 0 COMPASSION AND SO WERE WE! These little YOUNGSTERS THAT WORK IN FRONT ARE DISRESPECTFUL AND SMART MOUTHS MAYBE should learn to train your employees better and get vets that love dogs rather then kills them!!!! FUNNY THING THESE PEOPLE KEEP REMOVING MY REVIEW, GUESS THE TRUTH HURTS! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 OH YEAH they also removed my dogs pic off their website when I posted this review! 😂 which is fine by me cause they DO NOT DESERVE TO HAVE HER ON THEIR WEBSITE! She was TOO GOOD to be there to begin WITH!

The staff and Dr Pirkey were so kind and attentive when we brought our dog in after he was attacked by another dog, he had a gash on his foot and we were concerned he had a broken leg. They explained everything they were going to do thoroughly and luckily his leg was just dislocated. After a few stitches and X-rays we were sent home with meds and care instructions. I highly recommend Sachse Veterinary Hospital.
