I had brought a dog to Dr Witt to get nails clipped. I fell in love with all the workers and how Dr Witt went above and beyond to find a rescue group if the owner never returned (He did). I decided then I was switching vets as soon as my dog needed her shots. Which is in April. My dog out of no where got sick one night and I rushed her to the new Oviedo ER. They just took blood and pain killers and told me to see a vet. She was getting worse and they wanted her to stay the night. They cleaned me out with money and yet just gave her fluids. No feeding tubes and she needed to eat due to her pancreatitis. Her liver was a little enlarged. I didn’t trust the new ER so I had brought my dog to Dr Witt, because she was very sick. She needed a sonogram but nobody could that day. My dog was dying. Dr Witt called all over and even went all the way to outside of seminole county. She found this amazing hospital in Melbourne called Aloha we drove 1 1/2 hour to get a sonogram. We got the owner Dr. Peppen of the hospital who was amazing. He told me if this was us we would be in icu. Her liver was shutting down and now her kidneys and we might have to consider end of life. My dog was 3 and half paws in the grave. I needed a miracle. He told me let me keep her for 3 days. The next day he phoned and he wanted to see if we can do dialysis on her. Since everything was shutting down and he was in hopes it would kick start her kidneys. He also had feeding tubes. What ER doesn’t have feeding tubes for sick dogs I was so happy she was being fed and hydrated. Dr Witt even called to check on my Daisy and spoke to Dr Peppen. He told me he was very impressed with her. She was very nice. I felt the same way. If she didn’t find him my dog would be dead now. They don’t normally do dialysis on a dog but he just didn’t want to give up. So I left her there for 3 days. He sent me home with tons of medicine and within weeks my 13 yr old Maltese numbers went from dying to normal. Dr Peppen saved my dogs life but Dr Witt’s passion and persistence saved her as well. If there is any serious animal cases send them to Dr Witt. She will go above and beyond for your family member and make sure they get the best care. I would drive 3 hours to see him and for Dr Witt. Thankfully Dr Witt is close but I’d follow her to any hospital she works at. I recommend Shaffers hospital as a primary vet. Their staff is one of a kind and all really friendly and really love animals. Thank you, Shaffer Animal Hospital. I look forward to bringing Daisy back and any future pets. A huge Thank you to Dr. Haley Witt. If it was not for your determination, commitment, passion, and love of animals. Daisy would not be with me today. Thank you for fighting for my dog. I am forever in your debt!!!

I have been going here with my dog, Reef, for a few years now. I have the upmost respect and gratitude for her main doctor, Dr Patel. As well for the other doctors that have given her care Dr. Jen, Dr. Garrish, the Shaffer vet techs, and staff. They all care about the animals that they treat and always make my girl, Reef and I feel welcome and comfortable. With her turning 10, and getting older, it’s important to find a place like this. They have helped our family through a lot. Thank you to the Shaffer team for all that you do. You all are appreciated! ❤️

We were so impressed with our first visit. They were very nice when I called to schedule. We were able to schedule on the day/time I was hoping for. We sent a text that we were in the parking lot and a tech (Hayley) came out to greet us. She immediately started making friends with our 95lb pitbull that usually scares people, even tho he's really a sweet boy. Dr Gerrish was so calm and nice, explaining everything really well. They came in to the exam room for us to schedule the next appointment and to pay. They are very well organized. Fantastic experience. We've already recommended them to our neighbors.

I have been bringing my dogs to Shaffer for over 20 years and the staff here are exceptional at what they do. They really care about your pets. They’re always friendly, caring, informative and listen to your concerns. They check your beloved pet from head to tail and always recommend whatever is in the animals best interest. I will continue coming here for as long as I have pets - truly a wonder practice.

Shaffer is a great Animal Hospital. The most important issue I have is the qualifications of the vets. As far as I am aware, every vet on staff, except one, is a Board Certified Veterinary physician. That matters to me. The other issue that matters to me is that the practice is not corporate owned. I have had the experience of having my dog treated at a corporately owned facility and it is not good. They hire anybody and only care about money. They also make lots of mistakes because nobody cares. I like Shaffer AH and my intent is to continue to have my dog cared for there.

I have been bringing my dogs here for 20 years! I used to live right around the corner but moved 30 minutes away. After moving, I tried a few vets closer to my new home but no one compared to Shaffer so I make the drive. From the receptionists to the techs to the vets, I've always felt welcome and listened to. My new dog thinks he's just going to the vet for love and treats. Thank you Shaffer!

DO NOT COME HERE. Save yourself the hundreds to thousands of dollars these people will take from you.
I've given this clinic a few chances and had little to no issues until today. They say they are a "scare free" zone or whatever their motto is, but they do not live up to that standard. Every time l've had to make an appointment they just gave me whichever doctor that was available day of. My dogs have had no issues with any of the staff handling them, as they would often handle them and have me wait in my car. A few months ago my golden retriever yes you read that correctly, was taken back for an examine and when he was given back to me they told me he was "being aggressive" but gave me no explanation as to how he was showing aggression. When asked, they said "you know, how dogs get aggressive" no I don't know because he's never had an issue with that behavior? Immediate red flag. Since then I've been back a few other times for minor things and although their pricing is the only thing I can find an issue with, I tried my best to not jump from one vet clinic to the next. Today, Dr. Jenn was supposed to do an check out two of my dogs, I ended up leaving after only examining one of my dogs. She was extremely rude for how she treated not only me but my dog. She came outside and immediately told me she needs to prescribe my dog a high dosage medication for anxiety.
(My dog is in pain as we went in for a possible ear infection, he's never had to have anxiety meds to see the vet prior to coming to this place) she goes on to tell me that she couldn't complete the examine because he was not having it. I tried to explain to her that he wouldn't even let me touch his ears so l was questioning their tactics as to how they were trying to examine him. At this point, her demeanor was actively getting worse and she was very condescending with her words and tone. She then goes on to tell me that I need to muzzle my dog (who has never shown aggression towards anybody, let alone a vet) at this point I told her that I didn't feel comfortable with her doing the second examine on my other dog. I asked to take the leash from the vet technician, who then hesitated to give me my dog back. I'm not sure what these people did to my dog, but they 100% did instill fear into him. My dog actively goes to boarding and dog day care, he's never had any issues or problems with anyone before. Dr. Jenn should be ashamed with herself on how she handles patients and should get more training on handling dogs who are sick or in pain. After this incident no one in the office seemed to have cared or still didn't want to give me any clarification as to why this happened and how she acted, they only cared about receiving payment.
