Not usually one for reviews but I feel the need to let anyone that may be on the cusp of experiencing what we’ve experienced the past few months know to avoid this place. We have brought our dogs here since we bought our first baby 8 years ago. I would have recommended VCA to anyone back then. Dr Chambless was absolutely wonderful. Our babies loved him and so did we. There are a few techs/ front office staff here that treated our babies well which we absolutely appreciate.

We lost Kali, our first baby to osteosarcoma December 22 of 2024 after diagnosis in November. We had to fight tooth and nail to get her in to see an oncologist, which we should have been referred to when cancer was first mentioned. The delay of treatment cost her time, time she didn’t have to waste. By the time Kali was seen by oncology and set up for chemo/surgery the cancer had spread all over her body. She fought so hard for us. She deserved to live. Her case was never something that should’ve been handled in VCA. When cancer was suspected, we should have been sent to a specialty clinic. We were offered an amputation from VCA with no further plan. They wanted to take her leg and be done with it- no oncology referral- no chemo- nothing. We weren’t okay with that. We weren’t taking Kali’s leg on a whim with absolutely zero information or a game plan. The oncology clinic was shocked to know that no referral was sent in for Kali as soon as her biopsy results came back. Seeing that osteosarcoma is such an aggressive/fast moving disease.

As a family, this has been absolutely devastating. We made lots of phone calls and got a lot of second opinions on the situation regarding Kali. All leading to the conclusion that Kali was done a major disservice by this place.

We trusted Dr. Shurtleff with one of our most precious possessions and it came back to bite us- hard. All of this to say, if you find yourself in a situation like this please trust your gut and get a second opinion. We were lost when it came to this cancer diagnosis. Please get to know your veterinarian, because you never know when something like this may happen. We truly believe if Dr. Chambless was still at this practice- that Kali would still be with us. Please do your research on who is caring for your babies and if something seems off, it probably is.

I started setting up an appointment online for my dog. Once I got to the page where it says to select a date and time I didn't see northing that would work with my schedule, I only saw slots for tomorrow in which I wanted something for next week while I would be on vacation. So at the bottom of the page and states "If you don't see any times and dates that work for you please contact us". So I called and told the person who answered I wanted to set up an appointment, so she asked did I have a account I told her I've visited before back in 2019 but unsure if I had a account. I advised her I started setting up an appointment online but didn't find any times that worked for me. She then states dismissively"Well if you didn't see nothing online there's nothing I can do for you". I asked how far out to the availability show online she stated a month out. I'm not sure why online it would say to contact them directly if it's going to lead to someone to answer the phone and not even to attempt to try to assist. After getting off the phone I looked at the reviews and I'm glad that they didn't have anything available. Sometimes things work out as they should.

Overpriced and they constantly try to upsell you. Never have we (1) paid so much for routine shots, exams and (2) have the vet take our dog away and not examine her in front of us. We're taking their word that they did what we paid them to do. This place is just a doggie turnstile so they can make as money as possible. Probably owned by the same people who own the Mavericks.

called to make an appointment due to regular vet closing down and having their phone number down as a new clinic that will take care of us. receptionist was very rude and said they don’t have the records when i wasn’t even asking about that and had a very ugly tone when simply just wanting to make an appointment for my puppy’s check up. i suggest they get someone nicer to answer the phones

We own 2 labs, 1 American bulldog,& 1 Maltese.
The DR.'s here are VERY knowlegable,friendly & REALLY CARE! THE staff is always helpful, friendly & awesome! The Facility is always VERY CLEAN!
They performed Emergency surgery on my lab when he cut his side open on my trailer,saving his life!
They also performed Emergency surgery on my American Bulldog when she swallowed my kids stuffed animal whole,saving her life!
Dr. Nix is incredibly awesome! We & the dogs LOVE HER! But so are all the doctors and staff here. They always call and check on are dogs after any procedure and send postcards and email reminders when shots are due. I highly recommend this place for ANY/ALL your pets needs!

In June 2023 I adopted a beautiful 8 week old kitten from a local shelter. This kitten is an extremely loved and well cared for family member. Upon referral, I brought my beloved furbaby to the VCA Forney Animal hospital for routine care and enjoyed phenomenal experiences with Dr. Chambliss and Shelly at the front desk. So much so, that I enlisted the care of my adopted puppy to them in Dec 2023. Upon learning Dr. Chambliss resigned recently, I was disappointed but willing to continue services with the VCA Forney Animal Hospital. I am disheartened to regret this choice. I visited the hospital today for a routine vaccine appointment for my now 1+ year old cat with one of the new doctors who I had never met before. To note, my cat, who is up to date with all shots, is nervous around new people but never bites. Today while waiting for the doctor to come into the room, I made the mistake of letting my cat roam about instead of keeping her in the carrier. When the doctor entered, my cat hissed from the other side of the room. The doctor then immediately picked up a towel, grabbed my cat and held her down by the neck. This occurred extremely fast and without words. The doctor never introduced herself or attempted explaining what she was doing as she did it. As this felt intense, I asked if I could hold the cat and help. She then responded in a loud voice expressed with a rude attitude “I have years of experience with animals and I know when one is going to bite and even if your cat doesn’t have rabies, you are not going to like it if we provoke her to bite us and she is forcefully taken by the state and quarantined. And if you don’t like this, you can go somewhere else.” WOW. What an unnecessary intensity, lack of compassion, customer service and professionalism. To have never met a provider who I should have faith in, immediately threaten my cat and me, is something I’ve never experienced until today. I will not return to this hospital or trust in the care of wherever this doctor works.

Money, hungry money, hungry money hungry

disappointment with my recent interaction with this office. I called more the ones to inquire about my dog's potential pregnancy Considering my initial call was seeking guidance on whatever I should do and was advised to bring her in for an appointment. However, I was surprised to be charged the full amount for a visit There was no exam all there was just She needs to come back in 45 days to be assessed That information could’ve been expressed to me over the phone and I would’ve made the appointment at a later date I feel this situation could have been handled differently

1. Lack of clear communication about charges
2. Lack of transparency on phone conversation before
