Last evening we had an unexpected emergency with our beloved pet dog, Finnegan. The staff were very caring, professional and efficient. Our pet was found to have undiagnosed cancer and bleeding internally. They cared not only for our pet but also for our family. I would like to thank the entire staff for their kindness. Rest in peace my sweet boy.

Everyone I interacted with was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They treated both my pet and me with great care and thoughtfulness, which was an invaluable comfort during the stressful experience of pet illness. At every step of the process, they communicated with clarity and answered all of my questions with patience. Yes, I did have to do some waiting, but I believe that is to be expected when there are medical professionals making important decisions about prioritizing different cases and working diligently to give each pet the best care. If I had need of an emergency vet again, I would definitely return.

If you have the option to go to another emergency vet, I strongly recommend doing so. On two separate occasions, this clinic advised euthanasia for my senior chihuahua, and thankfully, I didn’t listen to them. Both times, she fully recovered after seeking care elsewhere.

The first incident involved a dog bite. They claimed she would never eat again and suggested putting her down. The second time, she had pyometra, and they told me surgery would be pointless due to her age and that she had sepsis. They sent me home with palliative care instructions and said she wouldn’t survive more than 12-24 hours, again recommending euthanasia.

Desperate for help, I took her to another emergency vet, where she received compassionate and expert care. She’s now doing much better.

This clinic seems more focused on profit than on truly helping animals and their owners. I can’t help but wonder how many pets are unnecessarily euthanized here. I will never return.

On a referral, I called them late today and they were able to get my cat in tonight on a Saturday. The whole process only took about an hour and a half. Everyone was extremely kind, efficient and took good care of him. When I first arrived they took him to a different room without me, to look him over. After we discussed what we were going to do, I asked them to bring him back into me to wait with me and they did, no problem. 5 stars!!

The people in there were very nice so I give them two stars. The problem is obviously the prices. Our cat was sick, and they basically gave him fluids and said they took him back for an enema, digital X-rays, and gave us some probiotics. I just think it’s shameful that they would charge $700 for these basic things and take advantage of people like that. Very sad.

they took great care of my jeffy! they explained to me in detail how they would solve his issue, what i could do at home to make his recovery easier for him, and i appreciate how kind all the staff was! jeffy is also very weary of strangers but I’m so glad the staff was knowledgeable enough to know how to handle my dog! i do recommend coming here if you want your pet well taken care of.

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS 5-STAR REVIEW:
This update does not reflect on the veterinarians or the quality of care they provide. However, my recent experience with Emergency Services West was extremely disappointing due to the unprofessional conduct of an employee I spoke with on the phone.

On 11/12/2024 at 10:09 pm, I called with serious concerns about my dog’s condition and to let them know I was on my way. The employee who answered repeatedly insisted that my dog had ingested marijuana, despite my repeated assurances that this was not the case. She then told me I was “wasting my time” by bringing him in.

When I explained that he had been playing in my family’s backyard with another dog when his demeanor suddenly changed and he could hardly walk, she dismissed this and argued with me at every step. She insisted he might have eaten something while on a walk, despite my clarification that we were only two houses away and that his behavior changed before we even left the yard. When I corrected her, she interrupted to argue, saying “that’s a walk.”

Throughout the conversation, she continued to insist it was marijuana, saying, “Everyone smokes weed” and “everyone throws roaches out the window.” This constant arguing and dismissal were exhausting and unhelpful when I was simply trying to convey my concerns. She continued to say my dog had ingested marijuana, warning his symptoms would worsen but that it wasn’t necessary to bring him in. When I expressed my frustration and said I would call another provider if necessary, she abruptly hung up on me.

Thankfully, I was able to take my dog to another emergency vet locally, where it was confirmed he did NOT ingest marijuana.

This experience was upsetting, especially during a moment when I needed genuine help for my pet. I hope management will address this issue to ensure other concerned pet owners receive the compassionate assistance they deserve.

PREVIOUS REVIEW:
I am beyond grateful for Veterinary Emergency Services West. When my 8-week-old puppy fell seriously ill with parvo just three days after I brought him home, I was devastated and completely overwhelmed, especially with it being a holiday weekend. I’d never heard of a dog surviving parvo, so my hope was fading fast.

But the providers and staff at Veterinary Emergency Services West took incredible care of my pup, updating me regularly throughout his 48-hour stay. Their compassion and expertise were truly priceless, and I genuinely believe he wouldn’t be here today without them. I would 100% recommend them to anyone.

My family has also relied on their care in the past for our childhood dog during COVID, and they were outstanding then too.
