A wonderful addition to the Huntington area and the LI veterinary community as a whole! My dog was limping and my GP vet suspected she needed knee surgery, so I brought her to this new hospital for a consult with one of their surgeons. Dr. Short and her tech, Lauren, were so kind and helpful, taking the time to learn my dog’s health history and explain the procedure to me in detail. The level of care we received from the first appointment to discharge post surgery, was amazing. The entire staff is so friendly and helpful - from the front desk staff to the techs to the doctors. Unlike other hospitals that are dated and dirty, this facility is brand new and really beautiful. I truly felt like my girl was in the best hands. I can’t thank them enough for taking such good care of her. If your dog ever needs surgery, don’t hesitate to bring them here! Here is a pic of her recovering with her favorite toys.

Dr. Short & entire staff are compassionate, caring, informative & patient. She explained before during & after my husky’s ACL procedure. Communication with her team is easy & accessible. The facility is beautiful, new & state of the art. Grateful for the care Ovi received from all the staff over the past months of recovery.

I highly recommend the Veterinary Surgical Center of LI and Dr. Puccio! As a fellow veterinarian, I’ve trusted them with many of my own patients and recently brought my own dog in as well for surgery. Dr. Puccio and her team provided exceptional care, and I felt completely at ease knowing my pup was in such kind, compassionate, and skilled hands. Dr. Puccio is an outstanding surgeon who went above and beyond for my dog, Luna. While it was hard to leave her overnight, seeing the incredible care she received when I picked her up made it all worthwhile. I truly felt that every member of the staff treated her like their own and I am beyond grateful to them all.

Dr Jennifer Short is a great surgeon and person. She performed a major surgery on our rescued dog Chance's leg. His elbow was totally out of its joint for over 2 years because of a growth defect he was born with. She explained everything that was wrong, and why it happened, and has been so patient with me through all of my questions and concerns.

Our boy is young and has a lot of energy so he has "tweaked" this leg a number of times since the surgery (over a year ago) and Dr Short has been wonderful reassuring us that his leg is ok. Recently he was running up the outside steps to come into the house and missed a step. Of course he slammed his bad leg and shoulder into the step. He started limping again, so back to Dr Short. She felt his entire leg, which was ok, but felt a large lump on his shoulder. She showed me how to compare it with his other shoulder and there was quite a difference. We asked her to take x-rays of his leg, mostly to see how his bones have progressed since the surgery, which she did, and nothing was broken or chipped, thank God. She suggested laser therapy to help with it. I thought, "oh boy how much is this going to cost?" She never pushed us into doing it and I was surprised how much less it was than I thought it would be.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Short and everyone who works at VSCLI. And her veterinary tech, Albert, is just as nice as she is. You can see how much he truly loves animals, and his job. Hopefully, you will never need to see a veterinary surgeon, but if you do, I highly recommend Dr Jennifer Short and the staff at VSCLI. And Chance loves her, which is a very high endorsement. (The photo with his tongue out is when he woke up after the surgery. Al sent it to us.)

There are no words to express our gratitude to Dr. Puccio and the staff at VSCLI. Our fur baby was diagnosed with a liver lesion at the end of November 2024 and needed to have a liver lobectomy. We went to a hospital we were referred to and it was so impersonal and felt like a factory. The vet and assistant never acknowledged our pup or showed any compassion to her or us. When we asked about visiting Lovey, we were basically told no, and we walked out knowing we would never come back. When we got home we started researching for someplace to go. We landed on VSCLI and Dr. Puccio. We were impressed with what we were reading and decided to make an appointment. From the minute we walked in we received a warm welcome from the receptionist. Every person we came into contact with acknowledged Lovey and showed compassion and empathy to all of us. Dr. Puccio explained everything to us, answered all of our questions and the hospital was immaculate. We booked the surgery and left feeling confident in our decision. The surgery went great, the communication with Dr. Puccio and the staff was top notch from day one and we were able to visit Lovey often. I am happy to report Lovey is 100% back to how she was pre-surgery and we are forever grateful for the amazing care given to Lovey and us. We would recommend anybody who has a pet that needs surgery to schedule an appointment with Dr. Puccio before booking anywhere else. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Puccio and the entire staff!!

Thanks to Dr. Puccio and her entire team of dedicated professionals, we were able to take our dog home on Christmas morning after emergency surgery for a perforated intestine. We couldn't be any happier with the outcome.

Everyone at VCSLI treated our family and our dog with kindness and compassion. The facility is well run, clean and state of the art.

We highly recommend Dr. Puccio, the emergency veterinarians, and the entire support staff at VCSLI.

Dr Puccio and Albert are amazing. Calm, informative, caring and overall very professional. Dr. Puccio gave us sound advice about our pup. She did not rush to operate on my dog. Gave us the suggestion to wait and see in the next month and then we will revisit our options. Love the entire staff!!!!

The experience at VSCLI was excellent. Our pup had an ACL tear and Dr. Puccio was her physician and surgeon. Dr. Puccio’s love for animals was obvious with her kind, gentle nature, and the devoted care she gave to each of her patients. She was thorough and took the time needed to answer all my questions. Dr. Puccio’s knowledge and expertise make her a gifted surgeon. She was referred to us by our veterinarian and we’re forever grateful. The staff at VSCLI truly work as a team, and were incredible. They were efficient, calm, and very comforting. VSCLI opened a few months ago and it’s beautiful, clean, and well organized. We applaud you all in achieving excellence!!
Thank you.
