I want to start by sincerely thanking each staff member who took care of my Luna during such a stressful, painful, and difficult time.

I called the clinic Wednesday morning with questions about my cat’s condition—she was vomiting and unresponsive. The moment I arrived, I was met with the same level of urgency I was expecting and hoping for. The veterinarian took the time to explain all of my options, the treatment plan, and pricing before I signed anything. I understand that veterinary care can be expensive, and while opinions may vary, I truly appreciated having a clear breakdown of costs beforehand. Making these decisions is incredibly difficult when all you want is for your pet to get better, and their transparency helped ease some of that stress.

Luna had to stay for a couple of days, and I was given every opportunity to visit, interact with her, and receive timely updates on her condition. The team kept me informed through calls, texts, and emails, ensuring I was always aware of what was happening, even though I couldn’t be with her the whole time.

During my second visit, Dr. Hartmann greeted me warmly and sat down beside me, saying, “Ask me all the questions.” In such an overwhelming situation, I had so many concerns, and as she was leaving, I kept thinking of more. Each time, she stayed and patiently answered every single one. That level of care and compassion meant the world to me.

Today, Luna is doing better, and I am beyond grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and expertise of this emergency veterinary hospital. Even in such a difficult moment, my experience was extraordinary, and I highly recommend their services.

My dog was attacked on a Sunday, so my normal vet was closed. I wanted to get her checked out ASAP. They were open. The waiting room and exam room were spotless. The receptionist moved us to an exam room quickly, so we had a comfortable place to wait to see the tech and vet. I expected that we would need a bit of a wait since it is an emergency room and there were other cars in the parking lot. All the staff was caring, supportive of my concern about my dog, they handled that I was shaken very well. They were very clear setting expectations for wait times since, like I said, it's an emergency room and they have other pets to attend to. My dog was treated, we were sent home with clear care instructions and meds. I have been to emergency vets before and I was expecting a high bill, but it was about half of what I was expecting.

Everyone was caring, friendly, and communicated very clearly. I would return (but hopefully never need to).

Awakened at 3am by our little dog, BeBe’s cries & yelps, we found her unconscious on the floor. After a few minutes of unresponsiveness we drove to the clinic but she passed as we arrived. The staff was very responsive & compassion and helped us thru the end process . . . We’re very grateful that there was a place to go at 3:30am.

We've had a great experience so far with internal medicine. All the staff have been friendly and we feel like our concerns are heard and addressed. They are great with communication, too. When we took our dog in for a procedure that required anesthesia, I was able to text back and forth with the vet tech afterwards about the status of my dog and aftercare. I agree that it is expensive (trust me, I had to open a credit line), but these are specialists. My regular vet had no idea what was going on with my dog and was making educated guesses. They really were limited to just blood work and x-rays. When Dr. Hetrick saw my dog though, I could immediately tell she was on a whole other level.

Pet Specialists was not a cheap option, but I felt that they were consistently compassionate and provided thorough care. It was extremely hard to make the choice to euthanize our dog, but I deeply appreciated the care that they provided prior to making this difficult decision. They had a neurologist available to diagnose the cause of our dog's seizures, overnight care, and oxygen kennels to assist with breathing. I felt that our dog got every chance for recovery, unfortunately it just wasn't in the cards. Afterwards, they sent us a card signed by many staff members offering their condolences. It felt like an above average response and I was very grateful.

While the care we received by the medical staff over the course of 4 months was good - there were too many details missed which caused us to ultimately look elsewhere for long-term care. Things like the dosage of medications being changed without any clear direction to us as to why (we would only notice when reading the emailed visit summary and then when calling back to ask why, the staff would change directives and the dosage would go back to the standard amount), the filling of medications onsite at very high prices only to find out later that the same medications were easily available on Chewy.com at much lower prices, and multiple directives to change the diet for our pet immediately causing GI distress instead of the usual 2 week ramp up period to new foods, etc. We also had trouble getting staff to call us back on multiple occasions, things like someone will call you back by end of day and then nothing; the worst turn around time on a call back was a full 6 days from Tuesday to the following Monday (with us calling in daily) which is not acceptable at the prices that we are paying. We ultimately took our pet to AVES and in the last 2 months have seen an incredible improvement in their health and surprisingly a much lower cost to us overall for the same treatment protocols (weekly blood work, urinalysis, etc.) I cannot recommend PSA as I believe they rely on too many small methods to charge clients as much as possible whenever possible, even though the medical staff seems quite skilled and the front desk staff is very caring and quick to answer the phone. In my opinion, AVES has been a much better experience overall, and is much more cost effective for the same level of care, and we are finally seeing solid improvement in the health of our pet.

The staff there was so friendly and kind with my dog who was brought in when they ate a chocolate chip cookie. The Doctor was very through and gave a very detailed explanation of what they were doing to treat my dog. If you're ever in need to urgent care for your pet, I would highly recommend Pet Specialists.
